I’ve been wanting to add some more cozy elements to our home and while browsing Pinterest I fell in love with the idea of adding cafe curtains to our kitchen windows. As I started to look online, I quickly realized that cafe curtains can be expensive and tension rods for all five of our windows would add up quickly.

Instead, I decided to use some of my favorite kitchen tea towels as the curtain fabric and eye hooks and wire to hang them. The tea towel fabric filters the light in the prettiest way while still providing privacy and you get a set of ten for only eight bucks from Walmart! I also found these cute curtain rings with clips in the perfect antique brass shade.

Altogether these cafe curtains ended up being super simple and way under budget. Since this project also requires no sewing, so I was able to complete everything during nap time!

Materials + Supplies

Flour Sack Kitchen Towels

Wire

Cafe Rings with Clips

Metal Eye Hooks

Pliers

Drill

  • Pre-drill holes for metal eye hooks on either side of the window. I feel like cafe curtains look best when they are run along the section where the window opens so that there are not a ton of dividing sight-lines.

  • Attach wire to one eye hook. Loop the wire through the eyelet and pull taut with pliers, then twist around to secure.

  • Add curtain cafe rings. I added sixteen cafe rings total: eight for each curtain panel.

  • Secure wire through other eye hook using the same method as the other side, ensuring to pull taut.

  • Attach curtains to curtain clips. In order to skip any sewing, I simply folded the top edge over to create the length I needed for the windows.

Done! Quick and easy no sew cafe curtains for your kitchen!
